Elder Care-W.I.S.E

The WISE/Elder Care Program is designed to reduce the incidence, prevalence, and negative consequences of substance misuse and improve quality of life for citizens aged 55 and older. Delivered over 14 weeks at senior focus (senior housing, day centers and churches) locations utilizing The Wellness Initiative for Senior Education (WISE) evidence-based curriculum supplemented with evidence-based strategies. The objective of the program is to improve quality of life by increasing knowledge and awareness of ATOD, proper management, storage, disposal of prescription medication stress management, embracing aging and strategies for healthy living, promote awareness of health disparities, linkage to resources and engage social connectedness, as well as identify risk for suicide.
